About Us
P & D Coachworks is a family owned and run business whose origins
started in 1971 when Paul McGavin began his apprenticeship
manufacuring Denning Coaches at Acacia Ridge in Queensland.
After working at Dennings for almost ten years Paul relocated to the
Northern River District of NSW where he spent time as the foreman at
the Greyhound/Surfside Buslines body repair workshop on the Gold
Coast.
In early 1988 Paul and his wife Debbie setup thier own bus and coach
repair workshop 'P & D Body Repairs' originally at West Tweed Heads
and finally Murwillumbah.
Within a year of moving the workshop to Murwillumbah Paul had
received his first order to build a new school bus for a local operator, and
in 1990 Paul along with three employees finished the first new vehicle
under the P & D Coachworks name for local bus operators Parsons &
Barry.
Two of those original employees still work with the company today.
In 1991 Paul built and moved into his own larger factory in Lundberg
Drive Murwillumbah where P & D Coachworks can still be found today.
In 1997 Paul's brother in law Neil Pollock started with the company and
with his engineering background has been a great asset to the business
managing the day to day production of the company.
Neil's partner Lesley is the companies receptionist and looks after the
accounts.
Paul's eldest son Leigh who has a degree in IT joined the company full
time in 2005 and manages the quotes, office and spares parts. Leigh had
previously worked in all departments of the workshop whilst at university
and during the holidays while he was at school.
